Naver has announced a new partnership with NVIDIA, Nexus Core Systems, and Lloyd Capital to build an advanced AI data center in Morocco. The project aims to support AI computing needs across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
The first phase of the project is set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025. It will include a 40-megawatt AI supercomputing hub powered by NVIDIA’s new Blackwell (GB200) GPUs.
Located just 15 kilometers from Europe and connected via undersea fiber-optic cables, Morocco was chosen for its strategic location. The data center will be powered entirely by renewable energy, with plans to scale up to a total capacity of 500 megawatts.
The consortium has secured a renewable energy contract with TAQA, an energy company, to ensure clean and sustainable power supply for the center.
Naver Cloud will manage the platform in collaboration with Nexus Core Systems and Lloyd Capital. The goal is to provide sovereign, cost-effective AI infrastructure tailored to European markets.
This move marks a significant expansion for Naver in the EMEA region. By working with NVIDIA and leveraging cutting-edge GPU technology, the partners aim to deliver high-performance computing for a range of AI applications.
The Morocco project highlights a growing trend of tech investment in North Africa, driven by the region’s renewable energy resources and proximity to Europe.
