Yandex has announced that it will stop supporting Turbo technology in two months.
This feature was introduced more than seven years ago to help websites load quickly on slow mobile networks. At the time, many website owners struggled to create mobile-friendly versions of their sites.
Turbo pages provided a lightweight alternative that improved user experience.
With faster mobile networks and better development tools, Turbo pages have become less relevant. Most websites now have dedicated mobile versions or apps. As a result, Yandex has decided to discontinue the technology and focus on other solutions for search and media businesses.
What Website Owners Should Do
Website owners using Turbo pages have two months to transition.
Yandex assures that disabling Turbo will not impact traffic distribution.
The “Turbo pages” section in Yandex Webmaster will also be removed, but existing feeds will still be recognized by search robots. If site owners no longer want to share updates through these feeds, they can delete or block them via robots.txt.

Yandex also recommends focusing on mobile site optimization and alternative monetization strategies. Site owners should ensure their mobile versions work well on different screen sizes and use tools like “Mobile Page Check” in Yandex Webmaster.
Mixed Reactions From the SEO Community
The decision to discontinue Turbo has sparked discussion among Russian SEO professionals. Some predict volatility in mobile search rankings. Others express frustration, saying they invested time in implementing Turbo only to remove it later.
One user criticized Turbo as a “useless” product and welcomed its shutdown. However, they also voiced concerns about future Yandex projects, particularly AI developments.
