In 2024, Roskomnadzor recorded 135 instances of personal data leaks in Russia, with over 700 million records becoming publicly accessible. This data was shared by the agency’s press service.
From January to September 2024 alone, 110 data breaches were reported, compared to 145 during the same period in 2023.
Leaks Continue To Rise
The latest figures highlight a growing issue. In 2023, Roskomnadzor reported 168 data breaches, exposing over 300 million records. By contrast, 2022 saw 150 incidents, with 600 million records leaked.
In 2021, the situation appeared much less severe, with only four major leaks recorded, affecting 2.7 million records.
The increasing number of leaks raises concerns about the security of personal data and the systems meant to protect it.
