Yandex Relaunches Internet Speed Test With New Features and Design

Yandex has rolled out a refreshed version of its Internetometer, a free tool that helps users measure their internet connection speed. The updated service now offers more accurate results, along with a cleaner and more visual interface.

The Internetometer is available at ya.ru/internet and works on both desktop and mobile devices.

More Accurate Measurements Using CDN Servers

Yandex’s Internetometer now uses its own CDN server network to run tests. This setup allows the service to evaluate internet speed more precisely at the “last mile”—from the provider to the user’s device in a specific region.

Instead of connecting to just one server, the tool reaches out to multiple nearby CDN servers. This results in more comprehensive and objective measurements.

Clear Results With Simple Explanations

The Internetometer shows download and upload speeds, ping (delay time in milliseconds), and technical details like IP address, browser version, and screen resolution.

It also rates the connection quality on a five-point scale. Users get plain-language feedback, such as “you can watch videos in 1080p,” making it easy to understand what the numbers mean in practice.

New Features Coming Soon

Yandex plans to expand the service further. A mobile app is in development, and users will eventually be able to view usage statistics.

The company is also preparing a personal account system for internet providers and mobile operators. This will allow them to access measurement data for their specific coverage areas.

Yandex Continues Expanding Online Tools

This relaunch follows Yandex’s earlier introduction of a platform for creating turnkey online stores, signaling continued growth in its suite of online services.
