Yandex has announced the acquisition of Boxberry, a move aimed at expanding its delivery and e-commerce services across Russia.
The deal will allow Yandex to grow its customer base and enter over 20 new regions, including Siberia and the Far East. This expansion includes new pick-up points and increased coverage for Yandex Delivery services.
Integration of Logistics Infrastructure
Boxberry’s logistics infrastructure will be merged into Yandex’s existing systems. This integration will boost Yandex’s ability to manage and scale its delivery network.
Customers of Boxberry will gain access to Yandex’s platform features, including more than 60 sorting centers currently operated by the company. This will help streamline operations and improve efficiency in package handling and delivery.
More Delivery Options for Customers
The partnership will expand the range of delivery methods available to Boxberry users. New options include courier express delivery and intra-city deliveries.
Yandex will also apply its technology to optimize delivery routes and costs. Its platform uses real-time supply and demand data to calculate delivery times and prices more accurately.
Integration Timeline and Team Continuity
Yandex expects the full technical and operational integration to be completed by the end of 2025. The current Boxberry team will remain and continue developing logistics services under the Yandex brand.
Broader Yandex Developments
This acquisition follows other recent updates from Yandex, including a major upgrade to its voice assistant, Alice. The assistant can now reason, manage files, recognize objects through a smartphone camera, and speak fluent English.
Yandex’s purchase of Boxberry marks another step in its strategy to strengthen its position in logistics and e-commerce throughout Russia.
