Yandex has officially entered the home security market with the launch of its first smart IP camera. The device allows users to monitor their homes remotely and integrates with the Yandex smart home ecosystem.
Real-Time Monitoring and Smart Features
The camera broadcasts live video and can store recordings either on a memory card or in the cloud. It detects motion or the presence of a person and instantly sends a notification to the user’s phone.
Users can also enable a feature that records only when movement is detected, helping save storage space.
Seamless Integration With Yandex Smart Home
The IP camera connects via Wi-Fi using the Home with Alice app. Once set up, it can be controlled through the app or with voice commands via Alice, Yandex’s voice assistant.
Video from the camera can be streamed to multiple devices, including phones, TV Stations, and Duo Max Stations. Users can set up custom scenarios or add the camera to existing ones. For instance, saying “Alice, I’m leaving” can trigger the lights to turn off and the camera to start recording.
Camera Specs and Privacy Features
The device records in up to 2K QHD resolution, offering clear video quality even on larger screens. It has a 103° field of view and a 350° rotation feature that lets users change the viewing angle through the app.
Privacy controls are built into the device. The camera can be turned off through the app or with voice commands like “Alice, turn on privacy mode.” It can also be set to automatically turn off and swivel away at a set time or when the user says “Alice, I’m home.”
There is also a physical mute button on the camera body. Pressing it disables the microphone and moves the lens away. Pressing it again reactivates the microphone.
Available This June
The smart IP camera will be available for purchase starting in June 2025. It was introduced at the first Alice and smart devices conference.
At the same event, Yandex also unveiled the portable Street Station and presented a major update to the Alice assistant.
